The Institute for Steel Construction participated in the international "Fatigue Design 2025" conference in Senlis (France)

From 19-20 November, the Institute for Steel Construction, with Elyas Ghafoori and Marlon Hilscher, had the pleasure of participating in the 11th International Conference "Fatigue Design 2025" in Senlis, France.
We were proud to contribute to the event with several exciting presentations covering cutting-edge developments in steel fatigue research:

  • Fatigue assessment and simulations of steel produced using wire arc directed energy deposition
  • Fatigue strengthening and lifetime extension of steel structures with bonded CFRP and SMA materials
  • Determination of fatigue-effective notch stresses based on real weld geometry considering welding imperfections
  • Early-stage fatigue behavior in iron-based shape memory alloys: new insights for construction applications

A big thank you to Fabien Lefebvre and CETIM for the excellent organization and for creating a great environment to connect with colleagues from around the world.
We truly enjoyed the inspiring discussions on the state-of-the-art in fatigue research, whether conventional, additively manufactured, or innovative memory steels.

Looking forward to future collaborations and continued advancements in this exciting field!
