We are delighted to officially welcome Finn Kielhorn as a new research associate at the Institute for Steel Construction in Hannover! Finn will be joining our research team on the JAM (Jacket Additive Manufacturing) project. The project explores the potential of additive manufacturing for the design and optimization of offshore jacket structures.
However, Finn is not a completely new face at our institute: he recently successfully completed his master’s thesis, where he focused intensively on numerical simulations to determine the failure location under fatigue in WAAM-printed (Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing) dogbone specimens.
Thanks to this valuable preliminary work, Finn Kielhorn already brings with him in-depth expertise in the field of metal 3D printing and numerical simulation, which will now be directly incorporated into the JAM project.
