The Institute for Steel Construction is pleased to have received funding from Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - German Research Foundation to carry on basic research on "Adhesively-bonded joints between steel and Fe-based Shape Memory Alloys (Memory-Steel)". Such joints can be used for repair and strengthening of existing steel structures including steel-support structures of wind turbines, cranes, rail and roadway bridges, which are all subjected to high-cycle fatigue (HCF), have been identified as one of the effective solutions to improve the sustainability in construction (towards net zero 2050). We would like to thanks DFG for the trust and looking forward to starting this exciting research.
