Scientific colloquium on the occasion of the inaugural lecture by Prof. Elyas Ghafoori

On Friday, 3rd February 2023, a scientific colloquium was held at Leibnizhaus in Hanover on the occasion of Prof. Elyas Ghafoori's inaugural lecture. After the welcome by Prof. Schaumann and Prof. Ghafoori, greetings were given by Prof. Nackenhorst as Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodesy, Prof. Peinke as scientific spokesman of the board of ForWind and Prof. Rolfes as managing director of the Test Centre for Supporting Structures Hannover (TTH). Prof. Schaumann then presented a retrospective in pictures of his active time at the Institute for Steel Construction, at the TTH and at ForWind. Prof. Ghafoori then gave his inaugural lecture on "Fatigue strengthening of steel structures: use of new materials and technologies". The concluding reception with coffee and cake provided a good atmosphere for exchange and discussion.
