Objectives
In the introductory phase of their studies, the module provides students with an overview of the field of subjects in the chosen degree programme and gives them an impression of the careers that will later be pursued. In addition, help is provided to orient students during their studies and to structure their own learning and work activities. Upon successful completion of the module, students can
- work on an open task in a team,
- fundamentally implement the university requirements for the preparation of a report and the presentation of results,
- deal with typical study work situations and processes,
- explain the basic facts of their "field of expertise"
Topics
The work in the module takes place in the form of a role play. In small groups (construction teams) an interdisciplinary planning task is worked on. A construction team consists of several experts, who are taught the necessary technical basics for working on the task in expert rounds by the scientific staff from all civil engineering institutes. The expert roles are chosen by the students during the first weeks of lectures.
The results and designs developed by the construction teams are presented in a competition at the end of the semester to a group of investors (professors), who then select the best design.
Lecturers
This is an inter-institutional course. All institutes of the faculty are involved.
