Welded joints

Welded joints are typically used in steel constructions to inseparably connect several components of the construction. Considering dynamically loaded structures such as off- and onshore wind energy turbines, these welds must to be seen as critical points with respect to fatigue due to geometrical and material based notches. At the Institute of Steel Construction innovative fatigue design approaches based on e.g. the real weld seam geometry are investigated to consider innovative developments within the welding technology.
